Principal Flute Melanie Lançon has put together a delicious programme of works that show the virtuosity of the flute alongside the richness of strings. One of the highlights will be Debussy’s dreamlike Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp, played together with friends from the orchestra.

The work occupies a unique place in Schubert's work, indeed in music literature. It is enigmatic, and it is perfect... No one can fully unravel the musical mystery of this work or put it into words," says music critic Joachim Kaiser. "Shaker Loops" from 1978 is a masterpiece of minimal music and refers to the Shaker religious community, who get themselves into a frenzy through ritual shaking dances.
