A love song, followed by two highlights from the French repertoire. Alexandre Kantorow, First Prize and Gold Medal winner at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Competition, chooses Chopin's Second Piano Concerto , which the Polish composer premiered in Warsaw before leaving his country for good, while the vast sound poem of Debussy's La Mer  segues into the haunting mechanics of Ravel's Boléro : two pieces championed worldwide by the Orchestre National de France.

Having won First Prize and the Gold Medal at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Competition at the age of 22, the young Frenchman chose Chopin's Second Concerto , which the Polish composer premiered in Warsaw before leaving his country for good. A marvelous work that demands, in addition to silver fingers, a sense of singing that embraces the lost melody of the Larghetto in the slow movement, dedicated to Konstanze Gladowska.
