The "Petite Messe solennelle" is one of the most remarkable musical settings of the Catholic Mass text, oscillating between Gioachino Rossini's "prime nature" as a highly acclaimed composer of comic operas and a deep religiosity; between cheerfulness, subtle irony, and religious seriousness. The typically Rossinian rhythm and the changing drama, entirely at home in the operatic spectrum, offer the choir the opportunity to showcase its full talent.
