Years later, the political figures who once overthrew him are stranded on this island after a devastating storm. Can the old balance of power be restored now? Shakespeare's last play is about power and politics at all levels: top/bottom, Europe/Global South. And about the pursuit of justice. To explore the possibilities and contradictions of solidarity in times of political upheaval, Bachmann Prize winner Sharon Dodua Otoo expands the text with a previously untold critical perspective, challenging existing assumptions with empathy and humor. Dagmar Schlingmann stages one of her favorite authors at the end of her tenure at the State Theater. All of her productions are also about taking a clear stance in the face of adverse conditions.
