Kurt Masur and the New York Philharmonic commissioned All Rise in 1999. The work received its world premiere on December 29, 1999 in Avery Fisher Hall, New York City, by the New York Philharmonic under Music Director Kurt Masur, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, and the Morgan State University Choir, Dr. Nathan Carter, Director.
