In 1807, Ludwig van Beethoven wrote his play overture to the drama "Coriolanus" by Heinrich Joseph von Collin. The music deals with a completely antithetical hero. Outwardly heroic and determined, the young general Coriolanus is inwardly driven by self-doubt, anger and insecurity.
