The trumpet is more versatile than almost any other musical instrument, and no one proves this better than the current artist in residence Matthias Höfs. In the first Wednesday concert of the season, he will span the spectrum from the sparkling virtuosity of baroque trumpet sounds to the tonal diversity of classical-romantic concertos and character pieces to the silky-smooth blue note sound of Gershwin's famous Summertime .
