Diversity and contradiction, modernity and tradition: this is what characterises the music year 1923, into which we plunge with our Freitagskonzert 1. In the first part of the concert, the Spanish pianist, arranger, concert designer and musical jack-of-all-trades Iñigo Giner Miranda will help us to transform some of the most important works of the year into a kaleidoscopic production. He helps us to bring this time of contrasts, in which the » Roaring Twenties « and mass unemployment, Schönberg and Lehár met, to life on the Bonn opera stage. Béla Bartók and Germaine Tailleferre, Dmitri Shostakovich and Kurt Weill, orchestral works and chamber music, high glamour and tonal rebelliousness come together. The second part features Shostakovich’s first symphonic work, which was composed in the very year began to grow in the mind of the St Petersburg student in 1923: Rousing, tempestuously youthful, but at the same time masterfully and perfectly written!
