More details
In the 1960s, the Western world discovered the beauty of Indian music - thanks in particular to Ravi Shankar - its scales, instruments and modal improvisations. At that time, it was not only jazz and rock musicians who sought to encounter India, but also classical performers. The violinist Yehudi Menuhin said: "I owe Ravi Shankar the most inspiring moments I have ever experienced in music."
