Friedrich Gulda was one of the great Austrian pianists of the 20th century, also known for his involvement with jazz and as a composer. He wrote a concerto for cello and wind orchestra for cellist Heinrich Schiff, which was recorded for record in May 1981 at the Vienna Austrophon Studio with Heinrich Schiff and the Vienna Wind Ensemble under the direction of the composer.
