Get ready to party like it’s 1788! Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart might just be the most famous composer in classical music history. This show features three of his most lovable works in one concert.

We’re joined by Michael Collins, the “highest profile clarinettist of his generation in Britain” (Bachtrack) – as conductor and soloist with the Philharmonia, one of his closest collaborators. Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, the last piece he completed before his death, is often described as the composer’s swan song. Immerse yourself in the sultry tones of the clarinet in dialogue with the orchestra.

Hilary Hahn is one of the top violinists of our time, with three Grammy awards to her name and a devoted fan base who will travel hundreds of miles to hear her live.  

She joins the Philharmonia for Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2. Lyrical, long-breathed melodies fill the first two movements. But the violin’s singing lines are tinged with darkness, and give way to a stumbling dance in the finale.

Following our historic debut performances in Mauritius in 2024, the Philharmonia Orchestra returns in February 2026 as part of our global touring programme for our 80th birthday with an expanded Festival – featuring double the concerts, double the music, and double the number of musicians.  

The electrifying opening of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 is one of the most iconic and instantly recognisable moments in classical music. But there’s so much more to the piece than that stop-you-in-your-tracks opening. A 40-minute masterclass in orchestral writing, hear the symphony performed by the world-class musicians of the Philharmonia Orchestra, live in Mauritius for the very first time –there’s a reason it’s remained one of the most popular pieces in the musical world and beyond.

Marin Alsop conducts three of the most popular works in the orchestral repertoire in this space-themed concert for all the family.  

John Williams is arguably the greatest film music composer of all time, with 26 Grammys and 5 Oscars in his bulging trophy cabinet. He wrote the unforgettable music for all nine Star Wars films. The Suite brings together many of the best bits, including the swashbuckling main theme and Darth Vader’s menacing ‘Imperial March’.

The Philharmonia’s Principal Viola Scott Dickinson and friends play one of the masterpieces of the Baroque era.  

The story goes that an insomniac Russian ambassador asked Bach to compose some ‘smooth and somewhat lively’ keyboard music, for his favourite musician, Johann Gottlieb Goldberg, to play to him to cheer his sleepless nights. Scholars debate how much of this is true, but there is no doubt that Bach’s aria and 30 variations are one of the musical pinnacles of the Baroque era.

Sir Donald Runnicles, a leading conductor of late Romantic repertoire, joins the Philharmonia in its 80th birthday season for one of Bruckner’s great symphonies.  

Two movements of Bruckner’s Eighth Symphony are marked ‘Feierlich’ – ceremonial – and indeed a live performance of this 80-minute work can feel like a musical ceremony, even a spiritual journey. Writing in the 1920s, an American critic described it as ‘a world of deep breaths and far vistas and profound experience.’

Our Second Violin Julian Milone, one of the Philharmonia’s longest-standing members, has devised a characteristically creative programme of chamber music written by Philharmonia conductors past and present. Discover music for string quartet, wind quintet, and some more unusual combinations of instruments, full of colour and character.

Discover Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s stirring masterpiece The Atonement in a celebration of his 150th anniversary year.

Commissioned by the Three Choirs Festival, with the 1903 premiere conducted by the composer himself and a libretto by local writer Alice Parsons, this is an opportunity to hear a rarely performed gem with its lush, sweeping melodies and majestic grandeur.
