The award-winning Merz Trio, praised for their “stunning virtuosity and ensemble work” (Reading Eagle), is joined by soprano Lucy Fitz Gibbon for a performance of Shostakovich’s hauntingly beautiful song cycle, exploring themes of love, longing, and loss. The program opens with Shostakovich’s youthful Piano Trio in C Minor and concludes with Dvořák’s masterful Piano Trio in F Minor, a work that captures the essence of the Romantic spirit.
