When "Amsterdam" begins, everyone holds their breath. This song about the wild sailors, their lust for life and their suffering, is, however, only ONE major event of the evening. Dominique Horwitz presents the legendary chansons of Jacques Brel as both a devoted interpreter and a gifted actor, who manages to virtually slip into the shoes of the Belgian, who died far too young at the age of 49.
