This program brings together three landmark works, each a defining moment in its composer’s journey. Brahms’ electrifying Scherzo, his first published piece, bursts with youthful fire. Shostakovich’s Piano Trio No. 2, written during World War II and at the midpoint of his life, stands at the center of the piano trio repertoire—an intense and haunting testament to the human spirit.
