Rodrigo’s captivating portrait of the royal palace and gardens near Madrid features guitarist Pablo Sáinz-Villegas, who, in his 2019 CSO appearance, “immediately dusted away the clichés, thanks to the sheen of his tone and the nobility of his rhythms” (Chicago Tribune). Riccardo Muti conducts Brahms’ Fourth Symphony, which blends warmth and poignant anguish with a tempest of a finale.
