TSO principal flute Alexander Lipay solos on Ibert’s flute concerto on a concert of impressionistic journeys from France to Latin America. Debussy’s charming Suite bergamasque is most well-known for its popular third movement, “Clair de lune,” while Jacques Ibert’s effervescent concerto is a supremely demanding showpiece of the flute concerto repertoire, coaxing brilliant sounds and melodies from the soloist and orchestra.
