Wheeling Symphony

The WSO proudly returns to the WesBanco Arena for Symphony on Ice, the Ohio Valley’s favorite holiday tradition. A true community celebration, this musical extravaganza features hundreds of middle and high school choir students from around the Ohio Valley alongside Wheeling and Pittsburgh figure skating clubs. This year, the WSO Community Choir will feature on several pieces, as well as local star Amanda McGovern, who returns once again to wow the crowd with festive favorites.

Five years ago, during our 90th season, the WSO was set to perform a concert centered around Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony. At the end of the rehearsal, we experienced something unprecedented: our Board President and Executive Director approached the stage and told us that we would need to cancel the concert out of concern for the unfolding health situation taking place around the country. What followed was a period of uncertainty and fear, the likes of which none of us had encountered in our lifetime. Along with the traumas, however, came a stronger sense of community for us all.

Featuring some of the greatest solos and duets of all time, Endless Love includes classics like “Could It Be I’m Falling in Love,” “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “What’s Love Got To Do with It,” “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher & Higher,” “Stand By Me,” “At Last,” “When I Fall in Love,” “Unforgettable” and “The Best!”

Experience Star Wars like never before at the WSO plays John Williams’s iconic score LIVE alongside the film! Luke Skywalker begins a journey that will change the galaxy in Star Wars: A New Hope. Nineteen years after the formation of the Empire, Luke is thrust in to the struggle of the Rebel Alliance when he meets Obi-Wan Kenobi, who has lived for years in seclusion on the desert planet of Tatooine. Obi-Wan begins Luke’s Jedi training at Luke joins him on a daring mission to rescue the beautiful Rebel leader Princess Leia from the clutches of Darth Vader and the evil Empire.

Star Wars A New Hope: In Concert

“Take Me Home” ends our season in celebratory fashion as we look at the many ways we can define “home.”
