Christmas Concert 2025

Ring out the old and sing in the new with the Berwaldhallen’s festive Epiphany concert! In this year’s concert, comedian Jonatan Unge is your host, and the Norwegian conductor Cathrine Winnes leads the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Choir, along with sopranos Julia Sporsén and Mari Eriksmoen, as well as this year’s Classical Artist in P2, trumpeter Ellinor Bengtson.

Epiphany Concert 2026

Few works are as closely associated with Christmas and Epiphany as Pyotr Tchaikovsky's music for the ballet The Nutcracker. In this concert, conductor Christoph Koncz returns to Berwaldhallen to perform a suite based on Tchaikovsky's beloved music together with the Radio Symphony Orchestra. But first, Sergei Prokofiev's Symphony No. 1, nicknamed Classical, the contemporary composer Hannah Kendall's work The Spark Catchers, based on a poem about women who worked in a match factory in the 1880s.

Join Niklas and Radioapan on a secret musical adventure filled with laughter, songs, and superpowers! Together with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and conductor Erik Arvinder, they set out to stop the mischievous sound villain Dissonance – who wants to turn all music into chaos!

World-renowned violinist Janine Jansen will make several guest appearances this season at the Swedish Radio Concert Hall, Berwaldhallen. Together with the legendary conductor Antonio Pappano and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, she will perform Johannes Brahms' technically challenging and musically virtuosic Violin Concerto in D major, written for the legendary violinist Joseph Joachim. After the intermission, Pappano will lead the orchestra in Richard Strauss' early symphonic poem Aus Italien , which depicts Italy's landscapes, history, and folk life in four movements.

Let yourself be embraced by light and confidence as Brahms’ beautiful Ein Deutsches Requiem resonates under the vast arches of Högalid Church in the composer’s own version for two pianos. The warm sound of the Swedish Radio Choir meets in intimate interplay with soloists and pianists in this work of eternal beauty under the direction of music director Kaspars Putninš.

For the first time since 2013, Petter Alexis Askegren 'Petter' finally takes the stage at Berwaldhallen with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and conductor Hans Ek to perform symphonic interpretations of music from the iconic rapper's nearly 30-year long career.

Principal Guest Conductor Maxim Emelyanychev leads the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Choir in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's powerful and iconic Requiem, which the composer couldn’t finish before his own death. But first, John Adams' repetitive and pulsating Shaker Loops from 1982, followed by Scottish composer James MacMillan’s Composed in August.

The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra's own Malin Broman and Rick Stotijn premiere Sally Beamish's Double Concerto for Violia and Double Bass together with world renowned conductor Pierre Bleuse. The concert begins with Maurice Ravel's Tombeau de Couperin , with nods to Baroque composer Francoise Couperin's music, while each movement is a tribute to Ravel's two brothers and several friends who died during the First World War.

The South Korean conductor Eun Sun Kim makes her debut at Berwaldhallen with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, alongside the Polish pianist Piotr Anderszewski, performing Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 24 in C minor, one of only two piano concertos he wrote in a minor key. The concert begins with the overture to Austrian composer Maria Theresia von Paradis' comic opera Der Schulkandidat (The School Candidate).

Part three of Esa-Pekka Salonen's residency, where the honorary conductor leads the the Swedish Radio Choir, the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir and soloists Malena Ernman and Jennifer France in György Ligeti's Requiem, written for the choir in 1965 and used by Stanley Kubrick in his movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.
