A tragic opera for soprano and orchestra in one act, lasting around forty minutes, Poulenc's La voix humaine was written in 1958 to a text by Jean Cocteau. This long and moving telephone monologue by a woman abandoned by her lover is performed by the Belgian soprano Anne-Catherine Gillet and accompanied on the organ (starting from Poulenc's piano version) by Yoann Tardivel, in a sober staging, conceived for this concert.
