Featured in the finale of the Oscar®-winning film Shine, Rachmaninoff’s towering Third Piano Concerto is known as the yardstick by which pianists are measured. Rachmaninoff later recalled it by saying “If I had any plan in composing this theme, I was thinking only of sound. I wanted to ‘sing’ the melody on the piano…”.
