The Verdi Requiem

Composed in 1873-74 in memory of Alessandro Manzoni, an Italian poet and novelist much admired by the composer, the Verdi Messa da Requiem is a work of sublime melodies and dramatic contrasts, all in service to the powerful emotions engendered by the timeless text. The large-scale Requiem transcends both the opera house and the house of worship to create one of concert music’s greatest experiences. Othalie Graham leads an all-star cast.
