“To be faithful to only one woman is the same as being unfaithful to all the others!” So ​​sings Don Juan. All other things being equal, it is a statement that one can mull over a bit, and has been doing so since 1787, when Mozart and his librettist Lorenzo da Ponte premiered Don Juan . The opera tells the myth of one of the most debated men in the history of music and literature; is he the ultimate man of action or an outdated charlatan? Is it a cheerful comedy, as Mozart himself called it? Or has it become a tragedy about human decadence, sin and penance, with the view of posterity on the work?

In addition to the opera's fantastic music, it is a work that has taken a firm hold on society's view of humanity and our self-understanding. Don Juan was an unequivocal success when it premiered in Prague, and for almost 240 years has been one of the most beloved and performed operas worldwide.

With The Barber of Seville, Gioacchino Rossini has written a terrific comedy about cheating and deceit, the desire for freedom and status. A story about daring to stand on your own two feet, breaking with authority, and generally trusting in love as a guiding star and not being afraid to mess with it a little.

So we're also going to spice it up a bit when we move out of the theater and concert halls and meet the audience. We're letting you experience the dilemmas, the dramas and all the fantastic things that opera can and should do. On the back of a truck, we'll go out onto the streets and alleys, squares and squares and tell all the great stories. With five singers, an actor and three musicians, you'll get The Barber in a different way; an hour of welcoming, family-friendly and accessible opera right where you least expect us.

On Saturday, June 14, Skanseparken in Aarhus was filled with sunshine and magnificent music, as the Royal Danish Opera and Aarhus Symphony Orchestra held the year's largest free classical concert in the heart of Aarhus for the 7th time.

Here we enlivened Skanseparken with magnificent music by, among others, Wagner, Verdi, Mozart, Strauss, Lehár and Puccini.

Opera in the Park is free and an invitation to a wonderful afternoon in the company of great music in the heart of Aarhus with a taste of well-known and beloved music from some of the greatest opera and classical works.

The host of the day was music promoter, pianist, radio and TV host Mathias Hammer, who guided the audience through a musical afternoon, where soloists Laura Helene Hansen, Thorbjørn Gulbrandsøy and Asmus Hanke could be experienced on the outdoor stage. The singers could be experienced together with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra and the Jutland Opera Choir, conducted by our own chief conductor, Christopher Lichtenstein.
