Far out at sea, where the water is as blue as the most beautiful cornflowers and as clear as the purest glass, there live the merpeople. The water is very deep here, and there grow wondrous trees and plants, their leaves swaying gracefully as the water flows through them. There, too, stands the Sea King's castle. He lives with his daughters in this magnificent castle made of shells, amber, and coral.
