Swedish conductor Tobias Ringborg brings two northern European composers to Nuremberg: Wilhelm Stenhammar and Jean Sibelius were contemporaries, and the somewhat younger Stenhammar was heavily influenced by Sibelius in his later years. Yet in his 2nd Piano Concerto, Stenhammar is more in line with the tradition of German Late Romanticism and creates a simultaneously virtuosic and forceful work.
