Erich Zeisl (1905–1959) is one of those exiled Viennese composers whose works, thanks to the achievements of exile music research, have re-entered contemporary musical consciousness and found their way into the current canon of literature. Born in 1905 in Leopoldstadt, Zeisl, a highly gifted young man, enrolled at the then Academy of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (now the MDW) in 1920/21.
