On the occasion of the eight-hundredth anniversary of Italy's patron saint, Francis of Assisi, we are pleased to present a performance celebrating the various aspects and stories associated with this extraordinary saint. The performance is presented by one of Italy's most acclaimed musicians, Angelo Branduardi, whose music will accompany the narration of one of Italy's finest journalists, Aldo Cazzullo. This performance will be a unique opportunity to delve deeper into and understand the importance of Francis of Assisi to our nation's identity.

The longest kidnapping in Italy's history lasted 831 days. The kidnapping, carried out by the 'Ndrangheta, involved an eighteen-year-old Venetian man: Carlo Celadon. He was kidnapped on the evening of January 25, 1988, from the villa of his father, a wealthy businessman in Arzignano, in the province of Vicenza. They tied him with wire and locked him in the trunk of a car for seventeen hours, the time it took them to travel more than 1,300 kilometers, reaching Calabria, in the Aspromonte woods. They freed him on May 4, 1990, abandoning him on the side of a road, with clear instructions not to look back at the men who had held him captive for more than two years. His hair and beard were long, and he had lost over thirty kilos. The seven billion euros handed over by his family and many of his kidnappers vanished into thin air.
