In 2023, composer Gerd Kühr, born in Maria Luggau, Carinthia, in 1952, received the Grand Austrian State Prize. With Stallerhof , the Klagenfurt City Theater is now staging the opera that marked Kühr's international breakthrough in 1988. Stallerhof is a relentless piece about the silence in peasant societies, about social constraints, but also about the unloved individual's irrepressible longing for love.
