Magnificent start with GF Handel
More details
The mere announcement of the dress rehearsal for Handel's "Music for the Fireworks" triggered the first traffic jam in London's history in April 1749: 12,000 spectators flocked to Vauxhall Gardens amusement park and had to wait in their carriages on London Bridge because nothing was moving.
