La Mirada Symphony presents Music of Eastern Europe: Old Worlds, New Worlds, a program that bridges tradition and innovation in one unforgettable afternoon. Audiences will experience Béla Bartók’s Hungarian Pictures, Alexander Arutunian’s brilliant Trumpet Concerto, and Antonín Dvořák’s beloved Symphony No. 9, “From the New World.”

The program also spotlights trumpet soloist David Pittell, whose performance of Arutunian’s concerto promises to be a highlight of the afternoon.

The program opens with Dmitri Kabalevsky’s spirited Overture to Colas Breugnon and features solo performances by outstanding student musicians from the Whittier Branch of MTAC. The season then comes to a stirring close with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s iconic Symphony No. 6, “Pathétique,” a work of profound beauty and emotional power.
