A musical theatre performance about the artist Lotte Laserstein (1898–1993). Based on biographical facts, the text moves freely around Lotte's thoughts, feelings and moods. About alienation, identity and creation.
We meet her upon her arrival in Sweden in 1937. She has left a Berlin where Jews are deprived of their rights and where she can no longer practice her profession as an artist. Her mother and dear sister remain. Lotte Laserstein fights for them to be allowed to come to her in Sweden. She creates a new life, asks herself questions about who one becomes and can be in another, different country. She thinks back on the good years as an exalted artist in Berlin and sometimes wonders what will become of her in Sweden, as a person and artist. But she never stops painting. "A day without painting is a lost day". In the autumn of her life, her life takes a turn that no one could have predicted.
