“I have no words, actually!” – that’s what the chairman of the municipal board once said when the news came. The news was one of many that followed the rounds surrounding Boxholmsost.
This is a story about a society that refused to give up. A fight for more than a dairy product – about identity, pride and faith in the future. Playwright Ivar Waldemarsson, known for the success Jag for ner till bror , gives voice to the story of Boxholm and the cheese. How does a place feel when its identity is taken away? What makes people fight? What does defeat taste like? Four actors from the Östgötateatern with musicians go on tour in Östergötland to meet the audience on home turf

The marriage between Hildegard and Jörgen has probably been strained even before the strip club came to the village. But now! No one is left untouched by this incredible addition to the entertainment scene, who is for it and who is against it? As if that weren't enough, Näcken herself is roaming the edge of the forest.

The frustrated Hildegard, played by Anna Blomberg, has her life turned upside down. When she and the dancer Jessica chase the mysterious Näcken, not only does an unexpected friendship arise. She also realizes that the secret she has been carrying will soon be exposed.

In the middle of a small town, everyday life, dreams and longing meet. In Hildegard and Jörgen's combined living room and foot care salon, life goes on in all its quiet confusion, while the new entertainment establishment lures with glamour and promises of something more. And out in the forest, Näcken keeps vigil between nightmare and daydream, between allure and danger.

They are among us, but few have heard their stories. In The Veterans we meet the Swedish soldiers who served in the war in Afghanistan.
 
It is about being able to trust each other, about volunteering and working hard. It is about the will to make a difference and about moments you never forget. But also about what we are prepared to do to be part of the group, and how we must live with our decisions – and about dealing with the great challenge afterwards – of becoming a “civilian” among others.

Rut & Ragnar , by Kristina Lugn, was originally written for our theatre director Gunilla Röör and Allan Edwall. Life got in the way and the play never reached its premiere. But now it's time! Spring 2026 will be Gunilla's last as theatre director, and there is no better farewell than touring the county with the play she finally gets to perform!

Finally, the National Theatre is going to make the classic Nils Holgersson's wonderful journey through Sweden ! Not only that - they have managed to cast the main role with Nils Holgersson himself, who has now turned 120! But when Nils is to make his entrance, he suddenly does not appear - he has disappeared without a trace. But the show must go on, the audience has arrived. In his absence, the ensemble begins to stage what they remember of the story and the choreographies and forgotten numbers that were deleted long ago. It turns out that the props in the set have been replaced, that the audience is not just an audience and that the doors to the backstage are open. People from the local area come in.

Passionate music from the Balkans!

The name Sevdalini comes from the word svedah, which has come to mean many things over the years, but the original meaning of the word is love. This evening, the ensemble Sevdalini performs touching songs about passionate love and painful farewells. The music has its origins in the Balkans, but here it takes on a new form as the notes carry traces of both Swedish folk music and flamenco.

The traditional lyrical song known as Sevdalinka originated in the Balkans, with roots primarily in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also in Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia and North Macedonia. The music and poetry have been interpreted and performed for over 500 years, and have been shaped and reshaped in encounters between different cultures and traditions in the area.

It is a play about status, symbiosis and friendship. Like the one between Helan and Halvan, Estragon and Vladimir or between two little guys where one knows everything and the other is happy to know someone who knows everything.

Get to know the founder of Erikshjälpen, Erik Nilsson, and his fascinating life story in a story about daring to believe when no one else does. A musical theater about a young man with hemophilia who survives against all odds and manages to start an aid organization.

Uncle Erik is a touching musical drama based on Erik Nilsson's short but eventful life. It is the 1940s and in a hospital, a seriously ill and lonely boy dreams of making a difference, even though no one sees how he could manage anything at all. He will eventually lay the foundation for one of the country's largest aid organizations, but behind the success was a son, a husband and a father who dedicated his life to helping others when he could barely take care of himself. Everyone knows about Erikshjälpen, but who was Erik really?

In times of turmoil when many feel fear and helplessness, our own creation, encounters with nature and community with other people can give us perspective, strength and inspiration to look forward. It is against this foundation that the performance has grown and taken shape.
Through poetry, music and song we want to raise both our own and some of the multifaceted questions and feelings of our time in order to gain insight into them. In the performance, words are intertwined with music into a whole that carries a desire to raise hope and strengthen resilience so that together we can imagine and shape a brighter future.

- I believe in evolution. In my worldview, the world did not come into being as it is written in Genesis.

I consider the creation story to be a beautiful, powerful and poetic story – as long as you are allowed to do as you please in terms of believing in it. And thank goodness we have freedom of religion in our country. So you can believe in evolution and be open to spirituality at the same time. It is not everywhere in the world that you are allowed to believe what you want.

I see the Judeo/Christian creation story as a fairy tale about how everything began. And that is not surprising. Such stories have arisen in most human cultures. It is enough to look up at a starry sky on a clear winter night and it raises big questions. And the answers to those questions have really varied depending on time and place.
According to the creation story, man is a construction of Our Lord, a kind of invention.

But it was probably like putting a check on the gardener that man was assigned the task of managing creation.

In our time, everyone is expected to be the architect of their own success and must do everything at all costs to live a successful life. How do you balance the expectations of constantly optimizing yourself, while also relating to the framework that class and norms place you in?

Revet takes on Strindberg's most performed classic Miss Julie and chooses to highlight the cook Kristin's version of Midsummer Night. In the performance, the audience gets to listen to Kristin's thoughts about the night's events and hear as she navigates love, individualism and obligations. How much opportunity do we really have to change our lives? How do power, social structures and gender norms seep into our romantic relationships and life choices?﻿
