The marriage between Hildegard and Jörgen has probably been strained even before the strip club came to the village. But now! No one is left untouched by this incredible addition to the entertainment scene, who is for it and who is against it? As if that weren't enough, Näcken herself is roaming the edge of the forest.

The frustrated Hildegard, played by Anna Blomberg, has her life turned upside down. When she and the dancer Jessica chase the mysterious Näcken, not only does an unexpected friendship arise. She also realizes that the secret she has been carrying will soon be exposed.

In the middle of a small town, everyday life, dreams and longing meet. In Hildegard and Jörgen's combined living room and foot care salon, life goes on in all its quiet confusion, while the new entertainment establishment lures with glamour and promises of something more. And out in the forest, Näcken keeps vigil between nightmare and daydream, between allure and danger.

In the cabaret Drömmen om elen, we take you on an electric journey through the whirlwinds of the energy debate. There will be sketches, monologues and pieces of music written and directed by the master of satire Gertrud Larsson, who has done research on site in the county.

Drömmen om elen is Byteatern Kalmar Länsteater's contribution to the debate during the 2026 election year. A contribution that provokes new thoughts and offers a lot of laughter.

On stage are Agnes Forstenberg and Anna-Lena Efverman together with a musician.
Gertrud Larsson has previously written Glasjesus and Kalasa med Vasa for Byteatern Kalmar Länsteater.

It unites us into one body, one room, one now. Rhythm is not just a simple accompaniment, but a language of its own. Rhythm is always there. Rut & Ragnar , by Kristina Lugn, was originally written for our theatre director Gunilla Röör and Allan Edwall. Life got in the way and the play never reached its premiere. But now it's time! Spring 2026 will be Gunilla's last as theatre director, and there is no better farewell than touring the county with the play she finally gets to perform!

The performance opens a tear in time, when Karin was alive. What happened? The audience is guided through the 20th century and a life that was followed for several decades by the silence of shame. Karin's written letters and most famous poems are portrayed with warmth, humor and seriousness.
The performance forms a cry out into our time from what she experienced then, now as relevant as then. Mental fragility in combination with the prevailing homophobia that existed then, makes our time visible. The music is sensitively composed based on knowledge of her life and is played by experienced musicians with the setting of cello, piano, guitar and voice. The performance brings a cultural treasure to life and the target audience is adults.

For the past 3 decades, Bottleneck John has toured extensively in
Scandinavia and Europe from the Norwegian Lofoten in the north to Tropea in southern
Italy.
Also in the USA and the home of the blues around Mississippi with gigs at
clubs and festivals there, including the legendary King Biscuit
Blues Festival in Helena, Arkansas!

Vilhelmina People's House

A performance based on Emerich Roth's autobiography and is about his experiences during World War II and in the extermination camps.
It takes us from childhood in what was then Czechoslovakia, through the turbulent 1930s and to the unimaginable brutality of the extermination camps. It is a story of hope, despair and Emerich's invincible fundamental idea that love always triumphs over hate in the end.

On January 22, 2022, Emerich Roth passed away, aged 97. He was one of several Holocaust survivors who in recent decades have been involved in schools' work on racism and intolerance. Soon none of them will be left alive, but their stories must continue to be told to keep history alive.

His name was Emerich.

The play alternates circus acts with singing and a story that touches deeply on humanity. A touching story about a father who had to give up his child – but who now regrets it. Here in the countryside in the remains of his Circus Tsirk Mechka we meet him, Sali. This time it's not just about circus acts and magic, something more important is at stake - his dignity.
