In "Origin," Saša Stanišić embarks on a quest to trace his roots: born in 1978 in the small town of Višegrad in the former Yugoslavia, he fled the Bosnian War with his parents at the age of 14, ending up in Heidelberg in the 1990s. Poetically, with powerful language and subtle humor, Stanišić recounts the adventures of his childhood in a soon-to-disappear country, his growing up as a teenager in Germany, his search for identity, and a motley crew...
