Actress Paula Ternström portrays Lovisa Ulrika, Queen of Sweden, from her arrival as a Prussian princess to her struggle for power, culture and influence. The play focuses on her ambitions, conflicts and loneliness, with reflections on her failed coup d’état in 1756, her love of art and her complicated relationship with her son, Gustav III. By weaving together pride, grief and defiance, Lovisa Ulrika creates an intimate dialogue with the audience, where she both defends her heritage and seeks reconciliation with her past. She invites the audience to listen to her story, not as history wrote it, but as she herself remembers it.
