Opera Classica Europa

All opera lovers are invited to a new production of Giuseppe Verdi's opera "La Traviata" on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) in the historic Lindenfels Castle ruins. The Opera Classica Europa ensemble presents one of the most popular and frequently performed operas in music history.

The dramatic plot unfolds in Parisian society in the mid-19th century. The central figure is the terminally ill courtesan Violetta Valéry, who must sacrifice her great love for Alfredo Germont to societal constraints and the prevailing moral standards of the time.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's masterpiece "The Magic Flute" is one of the most famous, frequently performed, and most attended operas in music history. It is both a classical opera and a singspiel. Mozart's last stage work is known like almost no other opera. For more than two centuries, this musical fairy tale has enchanted audiences with its multifaceted nature. As colorful and vibrant as Mozart's wonderful music is the captivating plot of this opera. At the heart of the story is the power struggle between the Queen of the Night and Sarastro, the high priest of the sun kingdom. In the end, however, the all-conquering power of love and the might of good triumph.

The performance of Puccini's "Tosca" marked the beginning of the shared musical journey of the Count von Oppersdorff zu Solms-Braunfels family and Opera Classica Europa through the world of Italian opera. In 2026, the friendly and successful tradition of an opera performance held every summer at Braunfels Castle will celebrate its 20th anniversary. The opera with which it all began, and which is also inextricably linked to the favorite role of the much too early deceased Romana Vaccaro, will be restaged at Braunfels Castle on August 8, 2026, to celebrate this 20th anniversary.
