More details
François Servais was a pioneering cellist, a European star, and one of the founding figures of the Belgian cello school. He performed with Mendelssohn, Rossini, and Vieuxtemps, and he was admired by Schumann, Meyerbeer, and Berlioz. A century and a half after his death, his virtuosic cello compositions still resonate around the world, and his six etudes are a compulsory work at the Queen Elisabeth Competition for Cello.
