The libretto is by Sofi Oksanen – recipient of the Nordic Council Literature Prize – and by Aleksi Barrière, whose text lends piercing clarity to the music of the late Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho in her final opera. The production is directed by the Australian Simon Stone, bringing together a remarkable creative team that guides the audience through a raw, nightmarish reflection on the senseless gun violence of our time – at the very heart of The Opera House.

Innocence

One hundred and thirty years after its premiere in Turin, La bohème continues to hold an immortal place among the most performed and beloved works in the operatic repertoire. Perhaps it is the allure of the seemingly carefree artistic milieu of Paris. Perhaps it is Puccini’s ravishing score, with its recurring motifs that follow each character and render the drama so immediate. Above all, it is surely the timeless portrayal of love – genuine and fragile – in a world where it is too often cheaply traded.

Jane Eyre

Royal Danish Opera

The Scottish post-rock band Mogwai returns to Denmark and can be experienced at the Opera House in November 2026 on their 'MOGWAI 30' tour. Over more than 30 years and throughout 11 studio albums, Mogwai—by using raw, sonic power combined with subtlety and elegance—has defined its own musical genre and built a loyal fanbase by staying true to its sound and its roots. The tour will see Mogwai perform songs from across their 30-year discography, including their 11th studio album 'The Bad Fire', which was released last year to great critical acclaim.

In the mid-1970s, the celebrated partnership of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice – also the creators of The Phantom of the Opera, Cats and Jesus Christ Superstar – set music and lyrics to the story of a woman who both divided opinion and attained near-mythic status in post-war Argentina. Over the five decades that followed, Evita travelled from the West End to Broadway and onwards to stages across the globe, collecting accolades, Tony Awards and millions of ticket sales along the way.
