The final program of CMS’s Winter Festival celebrates Mozart the inventor with two ensembles that were practically unheard of, yet would endure for centuries. Piano trios with clarinet would be adopted by Beethoven and Brahms; viola quintets by Mendelssohn and Dvořák. And, once again following Haydn’s example, Mozart contributes a conventional piano trio of radiant beauty.
