Plus Duke Ellington at Newport – his live album that captured the jazz highlight of the year when his orchestra made a dramatic comeback with a stunning performance that featured the extraordinary Diminuendo and Crescendo in Blue.

But why is it considered to be a masterpiece? Here to answer that question (and more) are presenter Leah Broad, Vasily Petrenko (conducting the RPO for the first time at Cadogan Hall) and the full Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, with an entertaining guide to what makes Mozart tick. They’ll take the Symphony apart and show you how it works. And then they’ll put it back together, concluding the evening with a full performance.

Best known as ‘The Voice of The Moody Blues’, Justin Hayward makes a welcome return to Cadogan Hall this October with his new tour, The Story In Your Eyes.

Celebrating a career that spans six decades, the show features classic Moody Blues hits – including ‘Nights in White Satin’, ‘Tuesday Afternoon’, ‘Question’ and ‘The Voice’ – alongside highlights from Justin’s rich solo catalogue, from ‘Forever Autumn’ to more recent releases.

The Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra continue its season at Cadogan Hall with conductor James Blair and award-winning soprano Lorna McLean in an all-Wagner programme, exploring some of the most powerful moments from the composer’s operatic masterpieces.

The concert begins with the Overture to Tannhäuser, where noble chorales and surging drama set the tone for the evening. This is followed by the Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde, music of extraordinary intensity and longing that remains among Wagner’s most profound creations.

One of today’s most inspirational pianists joins this elite German radio orchestra for a concert that exudes wit, melodic beauty and mercurial charm.

“The melodies fly so thick here that you have to be careful not to step on one,” deadpanned Brahms to his publisher when writing his joyful, sunny symphony. It could well apply to this whole concert. It is Brahms at his most joyful and easy-going, and Prokofiev channelling the spirit of Haydn for an affectionate, livewire pastiche – soulful, tuneful and occasionally laugh-out-loud.

In 1972, Graham Gouldman co-founded 10cc, a band that achieved a series of Top 10 hits, including three Number One singles ‘Rubber Bullets’, ‘I’m Not In Love’, and ‘Dreadlock Holiday’, among others.

It’s the enduring appeal of these tracks, along with Graham’s passion for performing acoustic versions, that inspired the creation of Heart Full of Songs.

The show features many 10cc classics alongside ‘Bridge to Your Heart’ (from Graham’s time with Wax) and hits he wrote for The Yardbirds (‘For Your Love’, ‘Heart Full of Soul’), Herman’s Hermits (‘No Milk Today’) and The Hollies (‘Bus Stop’, ‘Look Through Any Window’), along with tracks from his latest critically acclaimed solo album, I Have Notes.
