The night opens with Carl Maria von Weber’s Oberon Overture which brings theatrical energy, followed by the graceful Callirhoe Suite by Cécile Chaminade. Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, which also draws from theatre music, with melodies and moods that portray scenes,characters, and shifting emotions.
