NI Opera principals will perform some of the most iconic arias and ensemble pieces from Bizet’s ‘Carmen’, our new production coming to the Grand Opera House from 12 to 19 September with a guest performance by dance duo Augusto and Maeve who will perform a tango duet.

Learn to sing some choruses from 'Carmen' with NI Opera artists. Whether you sing in the shower, in a choir, or you’re a fully-fledged diva, join NI Opera for this fun and uplifting annual celebration of singing, now in its fifth year.

Over 90 minutes, you’ll learn the famous Toreador Song and another opera chorus from one of the grandest and best-loved operas of all time, Bizet’s ‘Carmen’. Then after a short interval, you’ll all perform it together with NI Opera soloists in the historic Grand Opera House auditorium

This is a relaxed, friendly and welcoming event, open to all singing abilities and free to attend.

Enjoy a pre-show talk before the performances of ‘Carmen’. NI Opera’s Chief Executive and Artistic Director Cameron Menzies will talk about the development of his production of ‘Carmen’, the first time he and the company have staged Bizet’s magnificent and much-loved opera.

Northern Ireland Opera’s popular daytime concert series features beautiful performances of opera’s best-loved arias, captivating duets, and timeless songs, alongside some hidden gems.
Directed by Northern Ireland Opera’s Artistic Director Cameron Menzies, ‘Morning Melodies’ daytime concerts are performed by NI Opera artists showcasing principals and also artists from our Chorus Development Programme.

The Northern Ireland Opera Chorus perform an evening of opera choruses, from much-loved and well-known works and lesser known gems.

Comprising more than 30 opera singers from Northern Ireland, the NI Opera Chorus are selected from open auditions in Belfast and spend six months working with the national opera company for Northern Ireland in an acclaimed artist development programme.

Come along for an hour of festive music with Northern Ireland Opera in The Hub at The Custom House in Belfast’s historic Custom House Square.
