Nashville singer-songwriter Jill Andrews has delivered irresistibly melodic, genre-bending music for nearly two decades. Anchored by frank songwriting but continuously and unapologetically evolving, Andrews’ tape deck currently hosts a range of influences from Joni Mitchell to Diana Ross to the Beatles to contemporaries Gregory Alan Isakov and St. Vincent. The result is bold, infectious, and introspective music.

Welcome to an evening of vibrant storytelling led by Music Director Emeritus Edvard Tchivzhel, beginning with Giuseppe Verdi’s Overture to I vespri Siciliani. Its mix of lyrical charm and revolutionary tension has the same appeal as today’s character‑driven dramas and historical epics—stories where personal stakes collide with larger forces.

The program continues with Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4, “Italian,” a work that radiates the sunlit warmth and effortless movement that modern audiences associate with Mediterranean travel and the universal desire for escape.

The mood turns more intense with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Francesca da Rimini, Op. 32, a gripping portrayal of forbidden love and emotional turmoil. Its dramatic sweep resonates with our current fascination for psychological romance and high‑stakes storytelling.

Dubbed "masters of soulful folk" by Paste magazine, The Wood Brothers formed after siblings Chris and Oliver Wood pursued separate musical careers for 15 years. Chris already had legions of devoted fans for his incomparable work as one-third of Medeski Martin & Wood, while Oliver’s band King Johnson built a loyal following in the South. With drummer Jano Rix added as a permanent third member, The Wood Brothers have evolved into one of roots music’s most revered acts, playing sold out shows across North America, garnering a GRAMMY® Award nomination, and releasing nine studio albums, including their most recent release, Puff of Smoke.
