A discussion of the creation and development of the first real “stars” of rock ‘n’ roll music and their role in helping to bring this music into the mainstream. This lecture includes a look at the importance of small independent labels like Sun Records in Memphis as well as major labels such as RCA and Capital Records. Also discussed will be the importance of radio in the promotion of rock ‘n’ roll.
