The Oakland-based artist Maria BC (they/them) has gradually opened up about their working process over the years, moving from a one-room recording process on the 2021 EP 'Devil's Rain', where they were careful not to disturb their roommates or neighbors, to the unprocessed apartment walks on 'Hyaline' (2022, Father/Daughter), and on to a family friend's home, where an untuned baby Steinway piano stood and where they recorded the album 'Spike Field'. In 2026 Maria BC returns with their third studio album, 'Marathon'. Support: Velvy.

Maria BC (US)

Alternative pop music that reflects late capitalism and the saccharine worldview of the digital world. The Paris-based interdisciplinary artist has a distinctive bedroom production style, featuring filtered high notes, fragmented samples, genre collages and processed vocals.

Milkweed describes their sound as slacker-core, which is both accurate and, in a way, insufficient. For three years Milkweed has refined a formula: they take existing source material and feed it through a wood-chipper of lo-fi production and experimental folk music. Support: Flavia Huarachi.
