Kirill Gerstein brings his profound intellect and dazzling virtuosity to Schumann’s rhapsodically romantic Piano Concerto. Written for the composer’s wife, Clara (a pianist and composer in her own right), it’s filled with hidden love missives and passionate reveries. Written to “make a stir in the world,” Dvořák’s Seventh Symphony crackles with energy, drawing from the lively dances and folk melodies of his native Czech homeland.
