Tower Players ProductionFriel’s hauntingly lyrical play is set in 1833 in Ireland. Translations tells of the British army’s campaign to replace native Gaelic place names with English ones. A British soldier on a surveyor team falls in love with an Irish peasant girl. Their romance sparks displeasure and anger in the Irish and English alike, threatening to tear the countryside apart.
