Guitarist Pablo Sáinz-Villegas channels fellow Spaniard Andrés Segovia, the original performer of Joaquín Rodrigo’s fantasy on old Spanish melodies. The young Cuban composer Jorge Amado draws upon his skills as a composer and violinist in a new work written for Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Night music from Manuel Ponce and a sketch of a traditional skeleton character from Gabriela Ortiz showcase the past and present of Mexican concert music.
