Featuring “some of the brightest young classical musicians in the world” (Time Out New York), Decoda is Carnegie Hall’s first-ever affiliate ensemble, comprising alums of the adventurous Ensemble Connect. Copland’s Appalachian Spring—celebrating its 80th anniversary this season—serves as an inspiration and departure point for this unique program. Experience a premiere composed by and featuring Ringdown, the new electronic cinematic pop duo of Caroline Shaw and Danni Lee; an American folk–inspired septet by Copland’s friend Hanns Eisler written shortly before his expulsion from the US; a new arrangement of Billy Bragg’s setting of Woody Guthrie’s “Eisler on the Go”; and the dynamic Vera by Hannah Kendall.

The Lullaby Project—now in its 12th season—is a rapidly expanding program in which new parents and pregnant people work with professional artists to create personal lullabies for their babies. In this heartwarming annual concert, audiences enjoy live performances of new songs written by families in New York City and around the world. Lullabies have already been written in more than 20 languages and across a wide range of genres. Celebrate the intimate moments of family life, learn the stories behind the songs, and experience this powerful program through its music.

Experience the famous versatility of The Met Orchestra as Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts Brahms’s First Symphony, two of Mozart’s great arias, and a recent work by one of today’s most celebrated composers. Jessie Montgomery’s unifying “Hymn for Everyone” came to her as a revelation—a rare sensation for the composer—and was premiered by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 2022. The agile voice of world-renowned soprano Lisette Oropesa shines in significant concert arias by Mozart. Grand in its scope as well as its themes, Brahms’s First Symphony is a heroic work, the culmination of decades of preparation and years of labor by a master.

The Met Orchestra

The orchestra of The Metropolitan Opera comes to Carnegie Hall in full dramatic force for its final concert of the season. The program opens with the stormy overture to Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman. The suite from Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande follows, featuring music from all five acts of the opera in just over 20 minutes, drawn largely from its gorgeous orchestral interludes. Metropolitan Opera stars Elīna Garanča and Christian Van Horn then join the orchestra in a complete concert performance of Bartók’s one-act expressionist opera Bluebeard’s Castle.
