The 2024 Applause Awards Ceremony is set to be a spectacular event, taking place on June 1, 2024, at the prestigious Walt Disney Theater, located at 445 South Magnolia Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801. This event, which begins at 7 p.m., is a highlight of the COMMUNITY SERIES AT DR. PHILLIPS CENTER, supported by OUC: THE RELIABLE ONE. It celebrates the remarkable talents of high school students across ten counties, with nearly 300 students from 34 high schools selected by a panel of 18 casting agents, show directors, and industry professionals. These students will participate in an unforgettable night of live performances, including showcases by the winning casts in the Outstanding Musical category and character medleys by the winning Outstanding Lead Performers.

The Applause Awards, now in its tenth year and modeled after the Tony Awards, will be directed by Broadway veteran Ray Roderick and hosted by Broadway star and Central Florida native Michael James Scott. They will be joined by former Applause Awards winners Samantha Nelson and Jackson Chase. The ceremony not only recognizes the incredible talent of these young performers but also awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to college-bound seniors. Two overall winners will have the chance to advance to the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, known as The Jimmy Awards, in New York City, offering them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete among the next generation of Broadway stars.

Tickets for this inspiring event start from $25, with options for group tickets and early access for luminary donors. This event is a testament to the Dr. Phillips Center's commitment to fostering the arts within the community, having awarded over $150,000 in scholarships through the Applause Awards to date. It's an evening that promises to be filled with talent, celebration, and the bright future of the performing arts.
