Susanna Mälkki conducts Musorgsky’s musical representations of a close friend’s artwork, as well as Bartók’s exploration of Romanian folk music. Hailed by The Washington Post as an “extraordinary visionary,” Pierre-Laurent Aimard solos in Ligeti’s Piano Concerto, inspired by a variety of cultures. Plus, cimbalom player Jenő Lisztes performs a solo arrangement of Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2.
